Bike Riders And Their Personal Insurance Policy By Darren Estwick Motorbike riders have been advised that they can obtain cheaper than the norm if they switch their provider to Bennett’s motorbike before the end of next month.
A 25 per cent discount is on offer for those willing to take advantage of a recession cut premium; the closing date for the offer will be February 28th. Bennett’s have disclosed that they will offer 12 months cover for the price of nine in order to entice customers.
Great Offer
"We want to give bikers a reason to get excited about getting on their bikes in the New Year." said Paul Galligan, director of Bennett’s Motor Insurance.
"The twelve months for the price of nine offer will hopefully help relieve some of the financial strain for UK bikers", Mr Galligan continued, "and who knows, it may even tempt others to think about switching from four wheels to two in a bid to save money."
Illegal
Discounts on premiums may be a sign of the times. As the recession bites more and more motorists either find ways to reduce their outgoings, or in some cases decide to forgo all together despite the illegal ramifications.
Only last week a man was left stranded after police confiscated his vehicle after he failed to produce proof of a valid Bike policy.
Shaun
Smalley, was asked to show his documents after being stopped by the police and failed to do so claiming he did not have any proof on his person.
After checking their database police decided they had enough evidence to remove the vehicle despite protests from Mr Smalley.
Although a snap shot of similar altercations between motorists and drivers, it does offer an insight into how many drivers forgo and what power the police have with regards to your vehicle.
Meanwhile the Police have been congratulated on the success of their drink driving campaign over the festive period which has seen a drop in the number of drink related motorbike and car accidents.
Applauded
The figures show that for the Christmas period, police caught 9,000 offenders after breathalysing a total of 183,000 motorists. Many of the convicted suffered bans, fines and increased premiums due to the initiative to make Britain’s roads safer.
The figures by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) were commented on by director of research Neil Greig. He advised, "The figures were encouraging, to see the initiatives cutting down the number of irresponsible drivers. However we need more targeted enforcement all year round as safety is for life – not just for Christmas."
