How To Save Money On Your Touring Caravan Insurance
By Dave Healey
Touring caravan has become much more expensive in recent years, despite the number of caravans on the UK roads doubling in the last ten years and the supply of increasing; rates for touring caravans have almost doubled due the vast number of claims made over the same period.

With this in mind, many UK specialist companies have become much more inventive in their underwriting of touring vans and caravan and mobile homes in general; flexibility being the keyword and if you fit the bill and take precautions against the risks defined by the companies, then your premiums will be much lower without restricting or limiting your levels of cover.

You can save money on your annual touring caravan premiums by considering the following areas where the underwriters are currently allowing big discounts.

Join a Caravan Club or Organization
For example, take an average policy for a single axle touring caravan with an annual caravan premium in the region of GBP 300 to 400. All specialist caravan companies, who incidentally are always cheaper than standard insurers or brokers, will offer a discount of between ten to twenty percent of the premium for being a member of a caravan organisation or society such as The Caravan Club. With the annual fees for such a club being in the region of GBP 35, it makes sense to join the club and enjoy all the additional benefits that that has to offer, and make a saving on the annual touring caravan cover.

Take a Towing Course
Once you are a member of an approved caravan club you will also be eligible

and invited to take part in an advanced towing and driving course. These caravan safety courses are approved by all the specialist caravan companies and completion of one carries a further ten percent on average discount against the total premium.

Improve the Caravans Security
Wherever you live and wherever you park you touring caravan when you are not traveling the country, there will be certain improved security measures you can take to deter theft and vandalism. These include modern alarms, wheel and axle immobilisers and other approved anti theft devices which are usually specified on the proposal form at a specialist caravan website. Examples of these are the Thiefbeater, the ALKO Chassis secure and the Bulldog max device. All of these devices carry additional discounts individually, which vary from company to company, so it makes sense within reason to check out the cost of installation. Quite often many of the devices will pay for themselves within a year or two in premium savings.

Compare Caravan Quotes
There are now a couple of specialist caravan websites that now allow you to compare quotes and cover for touring caravan online from many providers and then go on to purchase the one that is right for you. Premiums are generally much lower from these providers and the cover more tailored to your needs, so you don’t end up purchasing cover for your caravan that you didn’t need, for example contents away from the home when you have a home policy in force. Stay away from the big comparison sites or you will end up paying a large commission to the middleman!

The following is an episode list for the FOX television series Malcolm in the Middle. The show ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006.
